How much is a prepaid credit card at kmart?

How to file credit card bankruptcy?

  • I know this lady. She works at Kmart and earns only $700/month. She has 2 kids and separated from her husband. Legally, they haven’t divorce yet. Her husband used to pay the bill, but he stopped paying all the bills for a year. She used her credit card to pay gas, food, etc … to support her children. Now, her credit card debt is 22K. The credit card company sent her a letter to pay for it. Otherwise, they will put her in jail. She’s very stress about it. I want to help her, but don't know what to do.

  • Answer:

tell your friend this. in USA it is illegal for credit card debt collectors to threaten her with jail - ILLEGAL. they can not do it. she needs to contact her state attorney and find out what her legal rights in credit card laws in her state. she needs to google Federal Consumer laws so she learn the violations she can sue the debt collectors for. have her check locally for free legal aid in this matter. AS for her income go to library with her plenty of books on ways she could triple or quadruple her income the next yr. then she can go to community college and get education that can bring in 30000 -65000$ yr. she isn't a slave to present life or income.

You can't go to jail for owing money in US. the most they can do is take away your property and garnish your wage. Unless you owe a huge amount of debt, bankruptcy is not the best thing to do. It will trash your credit and hurt you in the future Try and see if consolidation the debt make sense
