Upgrading PC Compatibility/Gaming?
-
Ok. So I'm upgrading my Mum's PC for gaming because at present it struggles to run basic games. Anyway, for the best part of a month I've been looking into this, and I think I've finally found a good build that is fairly priced. I'm only 16 and although I have a job I still can't afford much because I'm saving up for a car, leaving my budget at around £800 - £850, so if you're going to recommend a better build that is a bit more expensive please keep that in mind, however I do welcome all recommendations as I'm not the biggest hardware buff going. This is my build, and I just want to check whether all the components are compatible. I've made an attempt at checking this myself, looking at the sockets and what not, but I would just like the opinion of someone who knows what they're talking about. Lastly, keep it in mind that I'm not only going to use the PC for gaming (although that will be the main use), but also for rendering videos in After Effects which I'm currently restricted to using my laptop for. Build NZXT Phantom Enthusiast Full Tower Case ----------------------------- £109.99 Intel i7-3770K Ivy Bridge (Socket 1155) Processor -------------------- £259.99 MSI Z77A-G45 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard ------- £93.59 Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 8GB 1600MHz RAM ------------------ £40.27 Asus 1GB GeForce GTX 560Ti DirectCUII PCI-E Graphics Card - £167.99 Corsair Enthusiast TX750 V2 750W High Performance PSU ------- £83.98 Samsung SH-S222BB/RSMS 22x DVD RW SATA ReWriter ------ £19.99 Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit ---------------------------------- £43.50 On one last note I would just like to ask these three things (Don't worry if you can't!): 1. Will the PSU be powerful enough for the PC? 2. I'm planning on recording games with fraps as well as playing them, so will my GPU be powerful enough? 3. Are there any other cheaper cases that are full size and look decent? Thanks a lot and I would really appreciate an answer! -Matt

Answer:
good build but here are a few changes i would do. (im not too sure on uk pricing) 1. spend less on the processor and more on the card Intel Core i5 3570K ($100 cheaper not sure in pounds) 2. unless it is for something else you dont need professional windows, hom prem is more than good. get the OEM since you would quilify ($50 cheaper) 3. that seems too dear for a case (unless you really like it) spend the money on this instead EVGA 02G-P4-2670-KR NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 2048MB GDDR5 PCIe 3.0 x16 Video Card SKU: 534735 its will give you on avg 30fps-40fps more (the gtx 560ti is about $225 and the gtx 670 is $400 so im guessing 250 quid) that will make this a power gamer system, and you psu is good unless you plan on SLI

thats a decent build i think everything is powerfull enough as no games use 8gb however its good to have 8gb so it doesnt slow down. anyways the case does seem a bit high priced u no check for cheaper ones heres a example for £66.99 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Antec-DF-10-Full-ATX-Tower-Case-PSU-not-included-/200751906798?pt=UK_Computing_DesktopComponents_RL&hash=item2ebdbeffee#ht_3153wt_754 and that is a new one or heres another one for £20 http://www.amazon.co.uk/CIT-CSCIT1005-Midi-Case-500W/dp/B002A9JHGC/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1337715819&sr=8-14 or another one looks abit better for only £40 http://www.amazon.co.uk/EVO-LABS-Gaming-Desktop-Computer/dp/B007BMZQLI/ref=sr_1_39?ie=UTF8&qid=1337715951&sr=8-39 all these computer cases look decnt and are full size and there way under the one your thinking of getting.i personally would spend more money on the specs rather then the case
