How do I knock down a brick wall?

Back yard BRICK wall! What color should we paint our old red brick wall?

  • We have an older two story house with a cute pool in the back yard. But the red brick wall makes the back yard look so ugly. My husband and I want to paint wall but we are not sure what color. My back yard is about 4000 square feet with brick wall ALL around the back yard. The entire back yard is cement and on small side with trees. But we want to liven it up. Any ideas????

    Do not paint. Looks great at first, but won't look good after one year. How about planting ivy at the base of the wall and letting it climb and cover the brick.

I like the look of brick...I'd find decorative "stuff" to hang here and there and break it up...easier to replace stuff than paint and sandblast... I urge you to reconsider painting. It's a pain in the @ss, frequently peels off the brick and if you get sick of it - it's costly to sandblast the old paint off (while trying not to damage the brick underneath) and then repaint... Good luck with whatever you decide...
