How do I knock down a brick wall?

Back yard BRICK wall! What color should we paint our old red brick wall?

  • We have an older two story house with a cute pool in the back yard. But the red brick wall makes the back yard look so ugly. My husband and I want to paint wall but we are not sure what color. My back yard is about 4000 square feet with brick wall ALL around the back yard. The entire back yard is cement and on small side with trees. But we want to liven it up. Any ideas????

    === once painted you must re-paint every few years ..... you might enjoy terracotta or white and some large planter pots will give your area a more decorated look .... drive around and look at others painted brick houses and walls -- that might help you decide what is best in your area .....

Probably anything from white to beige would be good. If you are willing to do a little extra work you should look into building some wooden structures on the inside of it for decoration. You could put up some posts and hang lanterns or plants from them. You could put up pieces of lattice and start climbing ivy on it. You could build some planters. You could even buy some rock facade siding, a yard pond kit with a pump and build a waterfall. The idea of painting the wall a light neutral color is based on having a base that is peaceful, not overwhelming, and adding to it with other stuff. Even just a little framework and lattice would make it look much better and not cost all that much for the level of improvement it will give.
