When To Take Prime Mango?

How long will it take for a mango tree to grow?

  • I ate a mango and then I let the seed dry out. I have done this before and the seed started to sprout roots but I accidently killed it when i tripped and kicked the plant. I put it in front of my house and watered it. I know it might take years but just wondering if anyone has ever done this and how long it took. I live in a desert like climate where the summers are hot and the winters are cold HOWEVER lately the winters have been freezing over I planted it now hoping it would be strong enough to survive the winter OR during winter should i bring the plant in so that it doesn't freeze over. Its a LONG time away but just want to get prepared now.

  • Answer:

From seedling to first fruit usually takes about eight years for a mango. It can continue to grow for another two hundred years or more. Do not leave your new tree outside when the weather approaches freezing temperatures. Mangoes are a tropical tree and even an adult tree can die if it is frost bitten.
