What makes Pennslyvania so much better than all of California?

Who makes the best California pinot noir?

  • I've recently started drinking more wine, and especially like the Pinot Noir varieties. I've tried a few from Oregon and California, and seem to enjoy the ones from the Sonoma coast the best. I had some of the 2009 Acacia and also some from La Crema, which I know are fairly common and widely distributed. What I was wondering is what other people recommend? Also, I'll note that the Oregon pinots didn't do it for me, and for the price I like the California ones better.

  • Answer:

I recently discovered the Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir by Ram's Gate when I was visiting there. It's a big, full-bodied Pinot with a lot of flavor. Ripe fruit greets you on the nose, and it has a long finish as well. I have tried many pinots, including ones from Kistler and Kosta Browne, and this one is great when you consider it's much cheaper than those
