What could i do with a slide projector?

What is the purpose of an auto-focus feature on a slide projector?

  • I have a Rollei p37 slide projector from 1976 with an auto focus feature, but I do not understand why it has this feature. It seems to me, that once you focus the projector, it would be focused correctly for as long as the projector remained there. Or am I mistaken? Does it have to be readjusted every time there is a new picture? Thanks so much, -John

  • Answer:

The auto-feature is there just in case it goes out of focus of blurry or its to small or to big. i know this because i help with lights my youth group at church. So you don't always have to use the auto-focus in less it needs to be in focus. I also have a website that may describe it better for you. Hope this helps.

the typical cardboard film holder used for slides don't position the film precisely enough for the projector to stay in focus. the film itself often gets a slight warp and unless the projector has a pre-warmer, the film often changes position from heating as the projection light goes through it. the focus issue is especially bad if you are presenting a "program" where the slides are taken from different sources.
