Pretty sure i got scammed, can they charge my prepaid debit card?
-
Hello, I believe I got scammed by some guys, I wont go into details how exactly because its a long, dragged out, and detailed story. anyhow they have my card number. This is a pre-paid debit card from donating plasma at Biolife, not a real credit or bank debit card. I was smart enough to not give them my credit/bank card info because I had a gut feeling something fishy may have been at work, and also I had gave them a false address. and thank god I did because after it was all said and done I found the company online and found multiple scam/fraud reports about the company and they are going to be trying to charge my card for 60 dollars that I really can not afford at the moment. Anyhow, my 1st question is this - Since I provided them with a false address that wont match my address linked to my Biolife card, will they or will they not be able to charge the card? My 2nd question is this - If they can charge the card despite having a non matching address, can they overdraw the pre-paid debit card from Biolife if the cards balance is at 0? Currently my balance is only 1 dollar, and I know that I can't make online purchases or withdraw from an ATM if the card doesn't have the funds on it, but I'm not sure if they will be able to overdraw it or not. My 3rd question is this - Will this company sit and watch my account and wait for the funds to become available and then charge it? Do I need to put a temporary hold on my account and have a new card number issued to avoid being billed from these guys in the future? or can I maybe call my card company and have them put a block on the fraud company to block them from ever charging my card? anyways I'm pretty sure that I will be alright, but I just need a little bit of closure as this has never happened to me before, I am young and I don't really know the steps I should take to prevent them from getting any money from me.Thanks alot for any help or input on this matter!
