What do you have to do to take nursing classes?

What classes should I take in high school for a career in nursing?

  • I'll be a senior next year. I am thinking about being a nurse. What classes should I take? I am thinking about AP Bio, Human Anatomy & Physiology, and AP Psych. I don't want to take AP Chem, because I hate chemistry (I know I'll have to take it in college anyway, if I choose to be a nurse). Are there any other classes I should definitely take? Also, will I fail as a nurse if I suck at algebra and chem? I can barely get by in those classes; I'm more into the whole Biology aspect of it. Thanks for the advice.

  • Answer:

A few extra health classes and all the classes you listed above would be great to learn about the field of nursing. In my college nursing majors have to take a statistics class so if your highschool offers that then you should definitely take that to get a leg up in college.

It doesn't matter. Just get good grades. Go to a college that offers a bachelor's degree in nursing.

The RN board of California has the answer for you http://www.rn.ca.gov/careers/steps.shtml

A lot of the the science classes other than the ones you mention. When you take the TEAS test, it's all sciences. & A lot of math classes too.
