Why does Facebook lock accounts straight after sign up?

I just made a Facebook account, and it locked it straight after I clicked the sign up button. I don't have a phone to unlock it, and even if I did, I wouldn't want to put my number into Facebook. I want to make a Facebook account so that I can talk to members of the family who live far away, and to keep in touch with friends outside of school. Is there another way to unlock an account? Please be serious in your answers.

if you have mobile number then have solution you fill out your number and unlock your profile.when your profile open proper way the delete your mobile number from profile and this way you do it both things number also not flash on your facebook profile and profile also got it proper way.
