Chances are that you wont get the chance. But you never know. You could get your records sealed but they have an email address. You can send an email asking what exactly are their guidelines or go into your locla precinct. Never give up your dreams if they aren't easy to reach until you've exhausted all of your avenues.

have your record sealed when you turn 18, nobody in there right mind would make you a cop if you have a theft and weed record. Maybe you should try to get some common sense also.

The weed thing itself is not the biggest deal in the world but the theft thing is bad. I hate to sound mean but you might wanna start looking at other careers because there are much better candidates out there than you.

Police departments are complicated and don't just accept applications and let you in. Its a very extensive hiring process that can take up to 6 months. Some of the most important things departments look for is responsibility, decision making abilities and stability. They pull your credit reports, do detailed background checks, the works. They will find your juvenile records and it could be an issue, but as long as you are 100% honest and upfront about how you've gotten into trouble, they'll look upon it more favorably than if you try to lie about it or belittle it. Get a job that requires a high degree of responsibility. I've seen officers recruited from referee positions, care attendants, shelter workers, ect. (I worked for a suicide hotline for three years before coming to work for the department.) They will ask you for many examples in your oral board about times you've used your authority, how you react under pressure, ect, so start preparing yourself for that now. If you've jumped around jobs in the past try to stay at one place at least 2 years before applying. They invest A LOT of time and money into researching, hiring, and training each applicant and they don't hire "tumbleweeds" as I've heard them called in the past. If all this is clear, check around department websites for postings. They'll have you fill out a preliminary application packet and if they are interested and you meet the qualifications they'll ask you to come for a fitness test and or written test. If you pass those, you'll go to an interview and you'll be handed a gigantic packet for your background investigation. After you turn this in, you probably won't hear from them for about a month as they research you. If you pass that, you'll go to an oral board, medical and psychological. If you pass all of that, they'll put you in the next police academy. Good luck.
