What is the developmental significance of preschoolers attending a field trip to a supermarket and then?

Field trip ideas with toddlers/young preschoolers?

  • I need to do a field trip with seven toddlers/young preschoolers, it would be walking. Nearby is a park perhaps a special activity their as it can't be just a park for play? There are fast food places and a vet clinic just past the park but neither interested me? Plus the area is quite busy it would involve crossing busy rodes to get their. I'm presenting the idea tomorrow and want to have a few. They can all be all in the park, so far the idea is a teddy bear picnic

    I'd just take them to the zoo or the carnival, but you don't want to so lets see what I can think of. 1. Teddy bear picnic 2. Scavenger hunting. (like an easter egg hunt, but with prizes not in eggs) 3. Painting in the park 4. A normal picnic and you could order a clown for them. 5. Just let them rome and have fun.

Well what is the age difference of these toddlers? If there is a big difference say between the ages of 1-5, it could be harder to do activities for everyone since the smaller ones will have a shorter attention span. However, if they are closer in age (say 3-4) it would be easier. My ideas include a sand castle contest (either single or in groups), simple games of tag and hide and seek, or even let the kids come up with games. If these are kids that have played together then chances are, they have their own games they play that you may not have even thought of!
