Help with "battery not charging" mac?

• My Mac OS is version 10.5.8, I bought it back in 2008 and it has never given me any trouble until now. I did not use my computer for three days and when I tried using it today it would only work with the power cord.   1. It is better you try to change the battery, if the it works then just know you need another one. 2. Also you try to change the charger, if the it works then just know you need another one. 3. If both do not work then it is the machine its self
