How do you hook a MacBook up to a monitor?

If I hook up an extra monitor to my MacBook Pro, can I do the same thing on both?

• For example, I'm trying to find a more efficient way to use Logic Pro 9 between my friend and I. We're trying to work at the same time together instead of I work then move out of the way and he works. I've seen people connect a monitor, but I've only seen them be able to drag something on to one screen i.e. Logic Pro 9 on one screen and Safari on the other. Is it possible to have Logic Pro 9 on both screens, completely operable to the both of us? Obviously I understand that in theory we would still kind of have to let the other work at one time. Having said that, what I imagine myself wanting to do in a perfect world is have my MacBook Pro on one table, another monitor hooked up to it on another table with an extra mouse and be able to do the SAME things at different locations. Is this possible?

  If I understand what you want, you would like to project, or "Duplicate" the screen instead of extending it. In Windows, this is on option in your display settings. I'm not too keen on how it works in Mac, but you may want to start in your display options.
