I need help re: burning files to ConvertXtoDVD.?
-
I've been meaning to burn my .mkv 349MB movie file into my Sony Accucore DVD-RW (4.7GB 1x-2x). There's still some disc space left so I know there's not problem with the disc space consumption. This is my nth time to ever burn a movie file to a DVD-RW and I used ConvertXtoDVD (latest version 4.0+). so far still no success. The conversion process went out flawlessly. But when I tried to burn it. It said that the disc is not empty and it gave me the option to rewrite on it or eject the dvd. Though the dvd-rw physically doesn't have any files on it I was doubtful because I previously tried burning on that disc before and it failed with Nero and ConverXtoDVD. So I assumed that as it was trying to convert the file, a certain portion of it might have burn to the disc. I tried erasing using Windows and Nero, an error message keeps on appearing that prevented from performing the action. Anyway, I find ConvertXtoDVD simpler and more practical than Nero. I tried uninstalling Nero but ConvertX still wouldn't burn the movie. (so I reinstalled Nero) I keep burning them and the same error messages pop out. 2012-05-21 00:13:37 Error BURN: INIT ERROR: Writing device initialization failed - sense: Code 00 00 00 [No sense information.] 2012-05-21 00:13:37 Error BURN: Init DVD-RAM: Last DVD Track need to be closed before write. Am I missing something here? What should I do to have a successful dvd burn? Please help. This has been my nightmare for 3 days now! THANK YOU FOR WHOEVER WILL PROVIDE A SUCCESSFUL SOLUTION!

Answer:
I'm familiar with the program as I also use it. It is possible that the DVD-RW disc can no longer be erased. There are rewritable discs like that especially if they have been used a lot of times already or if the disc is defective. Have you tried a different rewritable disc? To rule out that possibility erase that disc using this: http://www.ntfs.com/dvd_eraser.htm Meanwhile, to save a lot of time reconverting the movie, change the settings in the ConvertXtoDVD under the Burning tab to give you an option to Add "ISO File" destination to drive list. Once the ISO is saved on your hard drive, you may exit the program, go to where the ISO image is saved. Burn the ISO to a DVD using this: http://www.imgburn.com/ If you have Windows 7, just right click on the ISO and select "Open with Disc Image Burner". Send me an email through my profile if you need further assistance.
