How to build my own DIY PC?

Would this gaming pc build be good enough?

  • How is this pc gaming build I have really no clue about building a pc and I'm basing this build off http://www.build-gaming-computers.com/gaming-desktop-computer.html the mid range gaming build ASUS P8Z68-V LX Intel Z68 Motherboard Intel Core i5-2500K Patriot G2 Series 8GB DDR3 (1600 Mhz) EVGA GTX 560 Ti 1GB Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 7.1 Cooler Master HAF 912 Mid-Tower Ultra LSP650 650-Watt Power Supply Seagate Barracuda 1TB Corsair Hydro H60 Lite-On Internal DVD Writer Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit I was wondering if this build would be able to run games like skyrim, battlefield 3, total war:shogun 2, tera, and diablo 3 on at least high settings if not what should be changed.

EDIT: Don't listen to this "Mister Answerman" guy, 650W is enough, use this power supply calculator: http://www.thermaltake.outervision.com/ ********************* It will run all those games, no problem, most of them on max. To make your system better: Get the newest Z77 chipset motherboard, best for Ivy Bridge and Sandy Bridge. I recommend this ASRock Z77 Pro3 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard ($109, it's $10 cheaper than your ASUS P8Z68-V LX Intel Z68 Motherboard) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157297 For RAM, the G.Skill Ripjaws X Series or Corsair Vengeance would better (same DDR3 1600MHz, 8GB kit - two x 4GB) The Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 7.1 sound card is a waste of money, all modern motherboards have excellent integrated HD sound, you don't need a sound card. Don't buy a no name generic power supply, that is the engine that drives your whole computer system. Buy a good 80plus certified power supply from Thermaltake, Enermax, Corsair, Antec, OCZ. Get the OEM version of Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit, it is at least $100 cheaper than the retail version. Exactly the same except for Microsoft phone support, which you don't need and it sucks anyways. ($100 on Newegg) Get an after market CPU cooler, the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO ($35 on Newegg), the stock Intel cooler sucks and it's also noisy. water cooling is also a waste of money in my opinion. Make sure that 1TB Seagate Barracuda is a SATA III (6.0Gb/s), 7200rpm, 64MB Cache Good luck with your build.

Before you do anything, i suggest go onto mwave.com.au, there is a system configurator when you can put in your budget and use for the computer and they slap together bits and pieces for the ideal machine. this guy did mine: [email protected] i put in 700 buks as budget and gaming for use and he came up with this: +---------------+----------+--------+ | PART | SKU# | PRICE | +---------------+----------+--------+ | CPU | 19010220 | 135.00 | | MB | 28023629 | 53.80 | | RAM | 37140364 | 48.99 | | GRAPHICS CARD | 42050905 | 229.00 | | POWER SUPPLY | 34040827 | 69.00 | | CASE | 16011581 | 65.00 | | HARD DIVE | 22040460 | 75.00 | | OPTICAL DRIVE | 17040389 | 19.99 | | TOTAL: 695.78*| +-----------------------------------+

Thats basicly what I have, but i have a AMD phenom II x4, i run everything on max settings (SWTOR, BF3, skyrim) at 1680x1050, so if you have a 1900x1080 monitor, high-ultra would be no problem... But just a reminder, do not overclock the 560 ti while playing BF3, you will freeze up. But overclocking it for anything else is just fine, just downclock it to stock before you boot BF3.

650 watt PSu is mighty low and you might experience power drain so go get a 750 watt to make sure all hardware and any external devices have plenty of access to power. Make sure that the DVD drive also supports CD either RW or at least rom otherwise, you may not be able to access CD's.
