How to do a wheelie in stock RX 135?

Why was the Mazda RX-8 put out of stock.?

  • I was saving up for a new car and I was looking into the Mazda RX-8. I kept looking on their website deciding which model to buy and one day the RX-8 wasn't on the website. Any answers.?

  • Answer:

The poster below who noted that the rx8 has an inferior engine is quite incorrect. In fact the engine won the International Engine of the Year award in 2003 when it came out. The rx8 is a marvelous car. There are quite a few inherent problems but if you're a rotary fan those simply come with the territory. The reason that the rx8 has been discontinued is as follows: The rx8 was always a low volume car - people bought it in far fewer numbers than they did any of Mazda's other cars. Most people do not understand the rotory let alone appreciate it so the rx8 and its predecessor where the standouts in the sports car market. The car has been out almost ten years now and is nearing the end of its product lifecycle. There have been rumors of a successor but no definite word from the comany yet. When asked about a successor, a Mazda rep told me that they are putting the rotory technolgy on hold to focus on Mazda's skyactive technology. If you're interested in purchasing one, there are plenty of affordable used options. I got mine about five years ago with 20k miles on it. I absolutely love the car, even with all the issues.

Buy a used one if you like them, 10 years of used RX-8's on the market, so plenty to choose from. They stopped making it because it was expensive to maintain and warranty the RX-8. The RX-8 got very poor gas mileage for a car it's weight and engine size, which hurt's Mazda's fleet fuel economy. The car is uncompetitive with the rest of the sports car market due to it's inferior engine that could not be improved upon. Would you pay the same price for an RX-8 as a 370Z/Genesis Coupe 3.8 knowing you are getting 100 less Horsepower and less reliability? The cost to engineer a new competitive model was deemed to be not worthwhile it seems.

The model was becoming quite old and uncompetitive resulting in poor sales.
