Is it a fixie or singlespeed?

Retrospec or Schwinn fixie bike?

  • I'm looking for my first fixie bike and so far I have eyes on a Retrospec Fixie Bike. However, Schwinn seems to be very popular and came up a lot when I googled fixie bikes. Can anyone tell me which one is better, quality-wise?

  • Answer:

I think the Schwinn Madison is a great single speed. It has the flip flop hub so if you need a fixie you have it. Go out of town in some hills where you need to coast just flip the back wheel around. It has classic good looks and comfortable frame geometry. I trust the frame as I have had some awesome professional Schwinn's. Check out Performance Bike on line and see if they have any on closeout in your frame size. If you are lucky you will find a left over 2011 that fits. They were Yellow with crome tipped stays and fork. Real 70's looking. Old school cool.
