Ideas for charity work for a junior in high school?

I need ideas for volunteer work? Money raising for charities?

  • My friend and I are 14 and would really like to do some volenteer work. I help out at the local primary school after school club once a week. Any ideas on things we could do to raise money for a chosen charity, and volenteer work? Thanks.

Making friendship bracelets are a fun and inexpensive way to raise money. I've used it a dozen times selling the bracelets for $1 or $2 a piece. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9I1lM8PCRME Making cards for children in hospitals or the elderly is also fun. Remember to keep cards positive, like "You are Awesome!", not "Get well soon"...as some children won't be getting well soon, or at all. Here's excellent how to information: http://www.chla.org/site/c.ipINKTOAJsG/b.4952897/k.93A4/Greeting_Cards_for_Patients.htm Also, a fun idea among friends is to do a clothes swap charity fund raiser. Ask everyone to pay $5, bring a snack for the event, and to donate one item of clothing to exchange with each other in the group. How you exchange the items is up to you. We attached numbers to the clothing, then drew numbers but several people exchanged the clothing they got again. It was fun. We gave our money to our local toy drive for Christmas. It's cool, too, because when someone says, I like your shirt, you can tell them how you got it. It helps raise awareness.
