How to write a formal letter?

How do i write a formal letter to my landlord letting him know my 30 day notice?

  • i know this is long but iF youre a good writer i would really appreciate your help! The thing is the people living in our new house were having money problems and needed to stay a little bit and so we let them stay and paid another months rent on the 15th of may but we were just told yesterday that they were getting the keys to the house tuesday and now because we didnt give him a 30 day notice on time im scared hes going to make us pay becuase if we give him the 30 day notice today may 20 we would not be able to leave tilll june 20 which is 5 days afake us pay another monthes rent for ter our rent due on june 15. how do i make it so this sounds formal and he doesnt ? should i just give him the letter? im con fused. i have enough stress with this new house and could really use one less unessary bill. also our neighbor downstairs is planning to move upstairs to our apartment so hes not losing business. can anybody make this sound formal for me? i need to turn it in as soon as possible and cant find the words.

    Why does it need to sound formal at all? Have you ever seen Nixon's resignation letter? He was the president of the US and it was one sentence. You are terminating an apartment lease. It can also be one sentence.
