Are bed bugs ever black?

What are these tiny black bugs? I don't think they're bed bugs?

• My boyfriend and I woke up late today after a long night in St. Louis. I woke up and saw 2 tiny little black bugs crawling on the bed. Immediately I flicked one of the bugs, and it just kind of like.. died instantly and blood came exploding out of it's body. Then I saw on the mattress that there was a little stain of blood about as big as a pea, and the other bug was sitting ontop of the blood stain. I flicked it with my finger when I saw it moving as well and it was bloody. I'm seriously freaking out... I don't have any bites that look like bed bug bites, because I researched it. But seriously... what the hell were those things? I do have a series of little red bumps on my right arm all in a cluster, but other than that I'm prettymuch bite-free other than a mosquito bite. We just rented this apartment from this girl from Nigeria, she gave us her mattress to sleep on. We just noticed today that she had some bed bug spray, so we're really really concerned about this.. What's your opinion? What were the bugs? Thanks

  do you all have pets? or live around someone who has them??? it sounds like fleas to me
