Legal advice on unethical police officer?

Advice for getting hired as a police officer?

  • I recently completed a police academy through the local community college. I took my state exam last week (TCLEOSE) and passed. I also have 60+ college credit hours. I have registered for quite a few civil service exams coming up in the next few months, and have applied at city police departments, college police, ISD police, county sherriff, reserve positions...pretty much anywhere I can get my foot in the door and get experience. If you are a current officer, can you offer any advice for me? I have two children to support, and I need a job ASAP. I've wanted to be a police officer my entire life and now that it's actually a possibility, I'm worrying myself to pieces. There are so many individuals more qualified, with more experience, etc. If there is anything I can do to increase my odds or make the job hunt more efficient, your help is very much appreciated. Also, are there any other jobs I can do with my TCLEOSE license until I get hired on at a department? Maybe security or something like that?
