Is learning English language a very easy thing to do? And what made learn it so fast with no effort?
-
I learned English all on my own from video games.I can,I don't know how unotentionally memorize the cutscenes and then can mysteriously speak like them exactly.Something I could never understand why. I now am 19,going to high school and my mates and teachers don't believe me that I did not take any help from a tutor or anyone else.I now can speak and read English faster then most people. I live in Saudi Arabia and have been for the past 17 years.I have never met an English speaking person, nor have I ever gone to an English speaking country. My teachers don't even explain in English,90% of the time, they only explain in Arabic. My English teacher doesn't let me explain in English because I speak so fast and with such accent that my mates don't understand,it goes up their heads. It looks as though English language got handed to me,I did not put any effort at all whatsoever for it.If I tell all this to my mates, they say that " English is one of the easiest languages to learn "They say that anyone can do it. Is English really a very easy language to get hang of? And how did I become good at it unusually? Good answers are highly appreciated!!! Thank You!!!

Answer:
You obviously are endowed with what is called a natural talent or gift for learning languages easily, which usually is indicative of a higher IQ or intelligence. You might be interested in the writer Joseph Conrad who similarly not only learned but MASTERED the English language quickly as a Polish-born person and went on to become an accomplished novelist in English literature. As for the complexity of English, the basic sound system (phonemes) is simple enough but there are many inconsistencies in transcribing them (spelling variations in such words as "through" vs. "threw"); irregular verb conjugations need to be memorized; and idioms or colloquial expressions (like "down in the dumps" for "depressed") can be a challenge to figure out and use correctly. Basic sentence patterns are consistent but do have many variations.

Looks like you mastered the language without much effort. English can actually be a very difficult language for people to learn because of all the slang. I guess you can say you have a gift for languages, cause you picked up so quickly. There's no need to question why and how you learned it so quickly and so well, be happy that you learned it very well. Learning English in a country where English is not the official language, opens up many doors for you while looking for a job.
