why a reduced ring can be embedded into a sum of integral rings?

What's the expected cost of resetting several rings into one ring?

  • I have 3 heirloom rings.. My mother's engagement ring, my grandmother's wedding band and another ring of hers with a mounted pearl in the center surrounded by small diamonds. My mother's engagement ring is set in a gold oval, it's hard to describe, but it's a solitaire within the oval (it's from the 80s if that helps). My grandmother's wedding band is a thin platinum band fully encrusted with very tiny diamonds all the way around (from the 1950s). The last ring is a gold band with the large pearl in the center and the small diamonds surrounding it. My situation is that I want to use the platinum band and my mother's engagement stone to become one ring. Is it possible to create a mounting for my mom's stone on my grandmother's band with the tiny diamonds all the way around it? Would I have to lose some of the tiny diamonds? Also, is it possible at all to use some of the smaller diamonds on the pearl ring to surround my mom's stone on my grandma's band? I know this sounds elaborate, but it would be extremely meaningful to turn these 3 heirlooms into one ring, as they are no longer with me and it would be sentimental to use this as sort of a way to keep them included in my wedding. Any help/advisement is greatly GREATLY appreciated!

  • Answer:

I think the only way you will get an accurate answer to this question is to take it to your local independent jeweler for an estimate, I say independent because most chain jewelers (zales, helzberg, ect) will not work on jewelry that is not their own.
