Vegas Sony Movie Studio Platinum HD versus Sony Vegas Pro ?

  • I know that Sony Vegas is way more fun lol but that's like 400 dollars o.o and the Movie Studio by Vegas is only about $40 at Target.. but in Movie Studio can you split scenes, delete parts of a scene you've dragged, and fade it like you can in Sony Vegas Pro ? And is there something better than Movie Studio but cheaper than Vegas Pro.. ? Thanks so much :)

    Go for Vegas MS Platinum HD (10 video tracks) .. can split scenes and trim parts of a scene, in fact it has almost all the basics of the expensive PRO version. ...and the results are also very good and pro-like. When you have progressed and would want more, that's the time to upgrade to PRO, with a possible platinum discount.

the principle difference between Vegas Movie Studio, any version, and Vegas Pro, any version. is the Movie studio only allows 2 video tracks and a computer graphics overlay track. This limitation is the same for almost all inexpensive editors regardless of brand. Vegas Pro has unlimited video tracks and audio tracks on the time line. It is one of the few video editors that allows true Hollywood style multi-track audio mixing.

You can do all those things in VMS. Serif's MoviePlus is very Vegas like, but a lot cheaper. There's a free version you can have a play with, so it'll give you some idea of what the full version's about.
