Can you block your number when dialing an international call?

How can I call someone who has bell canada call block?

  • I have recently got back in touch with family in Canada, I was give my aunts home number so I could speak to her. The problem is I'm x-directory calling from Scotland and she has bell Canada call block and when it asks for your 10 digit telephone number it wont accept my number, as without country dialing my home number is 11 digits with area code and 7 without. I there any code I could dial to get around the call block.

  • Answer:

Your being ex directory is not the problem The Phone service does not show No's internationally anyway (as standard), and in any case internally the Number is present, so Bell Canada can check it. It is more likely that the service blocks all call outside NA as well as non-identified No's Solution: give a 10 digit Phone No !! Bell Canada's service is clearly misdesigned, as should accept different No's when they know it is from outside the NA area. (and the service 'can' tell). Just give the last 10 digits of your UK No 0112 345 6789 => 112 345 6789 (i.e. US/Canada NA format) if that does not work, AND it is important, use the operator to contact her first. NB calling direct will probably cost a lot Calling using various cheaper services will get it to 0.5p/min worst 1p/min see these 0844 calling services (fixed rates/min) http://callchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/intcallchecker/
