which branch has the Marines always relied on since they were created by Congress? The United States Navy. Get off your high horse, there is no "best" service. There are services that accomplish different things.

First...your attitude sucks. Who relies on the navy to get them anywhere? The marines. Remember that puppy dig when you are on a ship... Second...the Army was the branch that took the philipines from Japan...and the army was heavily involved in a lot of the island operations in the pacific theater of operations. I will give you that the marines are a respectable organization...I have known and worked with many marines over the years...but NONE have ever pissed me off as much as you. Respect is something that is earned....not something that can be demanded. I will always respect any member of the military for what they have done...but you, puppy dig, get absolutely no respect from me...hell you aren't even a pimple on a marine's *** yet...and at this rate...you never will be.

My Dad was a career Marine. Joined DEC. 26 1941. The Marines are not so much the "best" but they do what they must. Often with fewer resources. That is the difference of the Marines. They just do. Other military ask how.

the Marines have always done more with less,their battle history is the strongest of our branches,they have always overcome big odds and impossible situations with better results and in more impressive fashion,go around the world and ask which branch of the us military that they would least like to fight and 95% of your answers will be U.S.Marines.They are the best known and most respected and feared branch of the us military worldwide.Oh by the way zhead,the Marines have their own air power so they do not have to rely on the other branches,only in a very rare or extreme emergency would they need air support from someone else.It isnt about how many guns,tanks,or planes you have,it is about the skill,determination and dedication to the success of a mission that makes a branch strong and the Marines have it in spades compared to other branches,man for man the Marines are the best fighters this nation has,these army guys talk about how much larger the army is,imagine if the Marines had that many men and supplies,the army would be out a job,because they would be obsolete,the army has tried to get the Marines disbanded for their entire existence,pure petty lealousy and envy of a branch that has consistenly outperformed them in every conflict we have been involved in.Remember it is the Marines that guard the white house,nuc sub bases,embassies,nuc reactors on aircraft carriers and the command staff like admirals,they are asked to do this because the powers that be the Marines are the ones that are the most likely to fulfill that mission.In korea a north korean officer was captured and he said they were told to avoid the yellow legs at all costs,they called Marines yellow legs because the color of their boots and lower pants.They were scared to death of Marines.I experienced that myself in somalia,they avoided us on a very consistent basis.The Marines have a reputation that is earned thru years of impressive battle accomplishments.
