Will Ron Paul get enough co-sponsors for his bill to impeach Obama for bombing Libya without congress approval?

Ron Paul Co-Sponsors Obama Impeachment Bill May 18, 2012 Truther Ron Paul has co-sponsored a bill which would impeach Obama for going to war without getting congressional approval after he sent troops into Libya to overthrow Gadaffi. In the H.CON.RES.107.IH bill it gives the following description for it’s conception, “Expressing the sense of Congress that the use of offensive military force by a President without prior and clear authorization of an Act of Congress constitutes an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor under article II, section 4 of the Constitution.” The architect of the bill Walter Jones was the Congressman who recently questioned Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta if the president would get permission from Congress to go to war. However Panetta through a number of meetings has continue to affirm his believe that the president can do what he wants so long as there is enough fear or threat. Ron Paul has also voted for bills which he felt he was 100% behind and with such a big name supporting the bill it is more likely it can now get more co-sponsors. It shouldn’t be a surpirse that Ron Paul signed the bill to impeach Obama after comments he made last year about the killing of Anwar al-Awlaki in which he said, “I put responsibility on the president because this is obviously a step in the wrong direction,” “We have just totally disrespected the Constitution.” In reply to a question he was asked about Obama Ron Paul said, “I think the impeachment process would be possible,” The mainstream media have not said anything about the bill and are unlikely to do so any time soon which is why we need to make sure this goes viral. If more people in congress co-sponsor this bill it will force either an impeachment or a change in attitude from an administration which believes Congress is ceremonial. Please share this and tell everyone that Ron Paul is co-sponsoring the bill.

No. The older Ron Paul gets, the crazier he gets. Even Republicans recognize that. ##

No, it's a symbolic gesture, nothing more and nothing less.

It's symbolic that's it. Ron Paul is a joke. The President won't be impeached.

This I would love to see happen. Now I know that the guy was a bad person and he needed taken out but just because I feel this way does not mean we can go ahead and break the law. The rules are clear, congress is in charge and I notice that they are becoming less and less important by the day because of obama. A lot of people have stated this and two years ago I remember hearing Glen Beck say this very same thing and now it is happening. I pray on my knees that obama is booted out of power in 2013 because I dont think the nation will survive another four years of him God bless. ... LOL please forgive the short answers tonight, I was working and helping someone on to the exam table when I slipped and twisted my foot up good. My father put me on somethings for the pain and I am tired... HA. I cant even handle two beers let alone this...LOL

In the first place, Obama did not send troops into Libya. More to the point, under the War Powers Act, a president has the authority to take military action without seeking Congressional approval for 90 days. The provisions of the War Powers Act have been vetted by the USSC. Obama slayed within those guidelines -- well within them, in fact. This is not a real bill -- it is grandstanding by Ron Paul and some of the more asinine members of the Tea Party.

Problem is, what is really unConstitutional is the War Powers Act. I don't believe Rep. Paul has ever passed a bill in all the time he was in Congress. He probably won't break that record with this one, either.

Funny how this issue is suddenly all about Ron Paul and Obama! It's been discussed ad nauseum by many defenders of the Constitution - not only Dr. Paul - and against several other presidents including Bush Jr. ...

He wouldn't have a case. And he can have 60 co-sponsors, the amount of co-sponsors doesn't pass a bill or not. The Constitution doesn't prohibit the President from using military force without congressional approval. It just says that he must ask Congress for declarations of war. Not that he can't send troops to other countries. It doesn't define war or say if he is allowed to use military action without it. The problem with the constitution in this day and age is that it is far too vague.
