What does it mean when you have a dream about someone?

What does it mean when you dream about someone you haven't met and they die?

• I had a dream last night about a girl I have never seen or met. Oddly enough in my dream her name was Adrianna and aside from that I have never seen her. My dream was more or less a post apocalyptic alien based dream yet I was with a huge group of people in some sort of giant mall. The setting doesn't really matter but it sets the scene. Aside from that this girl and I were just in my dream and at 3am I wake up, who knows why and when I fall back asleep the dream continues yet without knowing why she is dead. However I got there I am at her grave in a field of green which could be weird considering the world is over. Off track again... anyway she is dead and the whole rest of the dream I am depressed about this girl. Now even though I am awake I can see her face and I am upset about her death. It is unnerving and really weird. If anyone could maybe shed a little light on what this could mean. I know I wont get any psychological analysis, but just another opinion could set my mind at ease.

  Are we all part of a gestalt? I thought I had typed this before but apparently I can not find the file anywhere. I have had several dreams where I felt I was someone else. In one case I was about to murder someone. I was very sure the body I was part of was about to do the deed and I did not want that to happen. I struggled against the act and succeeded in preventing the act until I heard a police siren. Then I woke up. I have no idea what happened after that but suspect the murder did not take place or if it did the culprit was apprehended. In another dream I looked in a mirror and the face was not me. This type of dream is rare. Actually most of us look at ourselves in a mirror only rarely. In another dream someone called me by a different name. When talking to people we use their name rarely so not surprising this is also a rare dream. I have had many dreams where I was someone else but evidence for the fact that I was attached to someone else’s thoughts is rare. This is true because even though I feel the dream is about experiences I have never had unless something happens where I actually see or hear something that identifies the other person I can not be sure just what the dream might mean. So the reason for the title. Are we all part of a gestalt that connects our minds when we are asleep and dreaming and if we pay attention can we tap into the collective wisdom when we are awake? Then again maybe not.
