If I add a game to Steam, will it back it up If I didn't install it through Steam?
-
That's basically the question Let's say I buy a game digitally through Gamestop. i then add it to the Steam library. Will it back up the install process and everything?
-
Answer:
If the game uses steam as its DRM, and so HAS to be registered to steam in order to be played, then your version essentially becomes a steam copy, and you can download from steam as if you bought it there. For any other game, I'm pretty sure this doesn't work.

I'm not sure because I've never tried, but probably not.
