    The USA has a greater number of air carriers and aircraft, so if the hiring climates are similar, numerically there will always be more opportunities in the USA. Currently, Europe is struggling just as much as the United States with its economy, so until things improve, all one can say is that it isn't easy in either place.

umm, usually you need a passport for that country to be able to apply for pilot training. also, it depends what institution or airline you are going to be learning with

Probably Europe. Airlines in America "usually" recruit pilots from military backgrounds with alot of experience. European Airlines have a reputation for recruiting pilots with very little experience and training them almost from scratch.
