Where do i get prunes and psyllium seeds in bangalore?

Do you get more oil from dried seeds or normal non-dried seeds?

  • Im doing a research on how to get oil from seeds. And I wonder if I get more oil from normal or non dried seeds? I need as much answers as I can :).

  • Answer:

generally speaking, the oil is not volatile (does not evaporate). Drying only involves the loss of water. So, depending on how you decide to measure the amount of seed you have, the answer will be either that you get more oil from the dried seed, or the same amount as the non-dried seed. If you measure the amount of seed by mass (weight) or volume, the dried seed will not have the water mass of the undried seed, so the mass or volume you assign to the "original" material will be less in the dry material than the non-dried material. the amount of oil will be proportionally higher by mass or volume in the water-removed materials. If you start with two identical quantities of seeds, take one batch and dry the seeds (but not the other), and then collect the oil from each, you should get about the same amount of oil from each original quantity whether or not you dried them as part of the process. This would not be true if the "oil" contains compounds that will evaporate on drying, while removing the water.
