How to stop a PC game from lagging?

Will another router make my game stop lagging?

  • I recently bought a new computer in order to be able to play Diablo 3. I love it but the game is running really slow and lags. I'm on a wireless hookup through my boyfriends moms router. Her router is on the other side of the house though. Connected to it is my pc, her pc, my laptop, my tv, my phone, her sons computer, his xbox...etc. I was curious if buying ANOTHER router (Belkin N750) would help. I don't have a hookup on my side of the house so would I have to replace hers or what? I neeeeed answers. I'm stuck and really hate lagging!! UGH! HELP.

    The lag is either due to not enough bandwidth or the computer isn't powerful enough to run the game. Does it seem like it's more of a game lag, or graphics lag? To test out if it's graphics related or not, set the game to the lowest graphics settings and see if you still keep lagging. If so, it's most likely a bandwidth issue, or your PC's graphics hardware is just really bad. To test your bandwidth, go to www.speedtest.net. First off, are you sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements for playing Diablo 3? IF it does, the second thing you want to check is signal strength? Do you have 1 bar or all bars when attempting to connect to the router? If you have checked both of these, are you playing the game at a time when everyone is using the internet at the same time? A router needs to transmit to all those devices at once, but in reality it's doing each of those devices out to the internet one at a time, only in microseconds. Also, is the internet connection DSL or Broadband and at what speed. You can check your connection speed at speedtest.net. Happy Demon Hunting!
