Can I Go To the sand dunes?

If you were due in 3 weeks, would you go riding a jeep up and down sand dunes w/friends?

  • My SIL is due in 3 weeks, and she asked me to babysit so she can go w/ her BF and some friends to a close by city and ride jeeps up and down sand dunes. I thought it sounded ridiculous and dangerous-- and really, how much fun can the other people have if she's about to pop anyway? So, would you go? I don't have any first hand knowledge of what being pregnant is like, but it stands to reason that going on trip like this is silly and maybe even dangerous?

  • Answer:

I absolutely would not do that. Even at 6 months I wouldn't do it! She is not using her head.

DANGEROUS! Just like they advise women who are pregnant not to ride roller coasters, or fly on planes in the last trimester. In later pregnancy there is a risk that the fast stops and starts like the ones in a jeep, could lead to placental abruption and trauma to the abdomen. She is also putting herself at high risk for injury, collision, and so on. Also, lets say something bad did happen, how far would they be from a hospital? So the way I look at it is, anything that you wouldn't do with a delicate newborn, you don't do during your last trimester. BUT, it wont matter if you do not baby sit, or lecture her.. it will probably start issues and she would just find another baby sitter. If she does decide to go, and you do baby sit, just simply ask her to make sure that they have a safety route and plan just in case anything were to go wrong. She may get mad at you, but you should definitely tell her your concerns. Friends look out for each other, even though sometimes its not what each other wants to hear!

I did that when I was on holidays in Dubai but I wasn't pregnant. I found it was great fun but there was times when you were been thrown around roughly. They may not let her participate as if god forbid something happened to the baby she could say it was their fault. I'm 9 months pregnant now and the only exercise I can participate in is bouncing on my birth ball which was recommended by my midwife.

it could be dangerous if they wrecked or something but it can also help induce her into labor. i mean my opinion i would go because i like stuff like that and it would be fun but i also want to get myself to go into labor a little bit earlier then my due date but not to early.

That sounds very dangerous. Not only is the bumpiness bad for the baby but what if , God forbid, something bad happened? Doesn't sound at all very responsible to me. Poor baby :(

Uh, that can def be seen as dangerous... I don't see any doctor NOT advising against that. She could do serious harm to the baby.

definitely not
