How can I become a full-time artist?

How hard is it to become a full-time artist?

  • I plan to go to uni for psychology but I REALLY am passionate about being a traditonal artist full time. Everyone says there's no jobs or pay! What do I do? Sell paintings as a hobby or study fine arts and make little money as an artist trying to break into the big time?

  • Answer:

It's super easy. Assuming, of course, that you're loaded and can afford to never get paid. If you're really passionate, double major (that's what I did with creative writing). Have something practical to fall back on.

That is correct. The art industry makes very little money..... And at times no money.....my brother air brushes, tattoos and has great amazing drawings but there's times that he hardly makes money off of it. And trust me he can draw portraits and make them look like so real ..... Not trying to discourage you at all since it's your passion but just have in mind. Cash flow won't be a constant income.

It is quite easy to become a full time artist. It is VERY difficult to make a living at it.
