What is that upgrade about android version to ics in xperia ray?

  • I've bought a new phone and it's my first android phone..so i read in specs that it will be upgraded to latest android version ics from gingerbread..Do i have to do that i mean do some changes in phone like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LCVXP3VI6Q&feature=related or it will be automatically upgraded by clicking on software update or what to do else to upgrade to latest android version in my xperia ray...

    Nah... the one u see is the demo video of Beta release for Android 4.0 update for Sony Xperia Arc... For you to upgrade your phone to latest Android, you need to 1. Take backup of all your data - contacts, media and other important data (Apps u will need to re-install) 2. connect to Wi-Fi 3. Go to Settings -> About phone-> Software Update and click on check for updates If there is an update available then, it will update your handset accordingly.. As per my knowledge Sony has started rolling out updates for Xperia Family, but first for European countries and India features in second release... Check this out...

Yes xperia ray is upgradable to android 4.0 ICS.Sony has released for ray,neo v n arc s in india.though the upgrade is not available OTA(over the air).u'll have to download sony's pc companion and connect ur phone to pc and then update it.

You go to settings, and you can check for updates, and it will give instructions on how to upgrade. You dont' HAVE to upgrade, but it improves your phone by a lot so I don't see why you wouldn't.
