Lump on bikini line, I'm not sure what it is?
-
Hi, this is kind of awkward for me to explain. I'm 15, and have already started my period. (I'm not sure if that helps with this question, just putting it out there) A few weeks/1 month ago (I'm not sure) I noticed that on my left thigh, right on the lower bikini line, there is a spot where it is a bit sore. Sore like a big pimple, not like a cut/bruise. Today I examined it again, and I noticed it doesn't really look like anything. But everytime I touch it, it kind of hurts, but the hurt where after it hurts, you kind of want to itch it. Anyways, it reddish/brown and looks as if it could be popped. It kind of looks like a red blister, but it doesn't feel like one. Anyways, I do shave there, (all over, not just the bikini line) So is it possible it is an ingrown hair? I've looked up some things on the web, and possibilities I've found were cysts, pimples or ingrown hairs. I don't know and I'm not close with my mom so I don't really want her to know until I'm sure if its growing/hurting more. Please help me, I'm afraid and I don't know what to do. I've tried popping it, but I'm even afraid of popping facial acne so I was hesitant to pop this. (I've never had sexual intercourse by the way) Thank you so much, Best regards kasandra

Answer:
Everything you told could be, the underwear and even the ingrown hair. Maybe you should loose some weight so the rash or burning sensations will be gone. That's much better for your health and even your breathing, you might be short of breath when in a hurry. What you can do as well seeing an doctor, doesn't matter if it's your house doctor, the gynecologist or dermatologist, everybody should know what it is and how you can get rid of it. Maybe as well it's a rash due to shaving. You can put some special cream on it which brings the pimple to become a whitehead. Putting some alcohol for disinfection could be helpful as well, so popping it later won't be harmful at all, if you're daring yourself..

Hi ! :) I'm an Esthetician and this is actually my specialty. You're definietly in the ball park, it is indeed a cyst from rubbing. I call them "friction zits." :) If you apply plain old corn starch every day before you put on your underwear, and exfoliate with spa gloves every time you shower, the cyst will go away by itself. It's also very important that you never wear anything but 100% cotton underwear, that it should always fit well, and never wear panties with lace or mesh. This causes more friction, and friction together with perspiration and heat are what cause these kinds of lesions. You can also look on my web site in the "Advice" section for more info (the one called All About Body Acne). Hope this helps :) Daniela Owner, Daniela's Facial Studio www.daniela.com
