How to ask a previous employer to rehire you?

No rehire and no specific reason given by previous employer.?

  • Just got the biggest shock today - my prospective employer said they decided NOT to pursue further employment process(es) as my previous employer indicated from their file I'm a NO REHIRE and there was NO specific reason given. My boss does not work there anymore, my past employer was bought out by another company so there's no one to ask or verify the info. except for written documents by the old company about past employees. I worked for them 10 years ago for 1 year. As far as I remember, my evaluation was great, no infraction, no disciplinary action taken against me. I left employment in good standing. On my last day, I remember vividly the potluck given for me and some keepsakes from co-workers. Also at the time, I was using my married name. When I applied for this present job, I used a different name. Could there be a possible mix up with names? I could not recall any plausible reason for being a NO rehire. Need your opinion. Thanks.

  • Answer:

Sure...there "could" be a mix-up. Call up your former employer and try to see what happened.
