Besides ER/OR Tech/Nursing Care Tech/AnesthesiaTech jobs, what other hospital jobs donĀ“t require certification?

What are some direct care jobs that dont require certification?

  • Not CNA, PTA etc. Ive heard about hospice workers and rehab assistants, any others?

  • Answer:

Some home health agencies will consider you but you may want to consider taking some sort of certification class. It's only a month or so. You don't want your ability to care for patients questioned. Some group homes like autistic homes or MRDD homes will hire unlicensed individuals. Patient care techs sometimes aren't licensed.

There are organizations such as Right at Home, which is I believe, a national franchise, where you can work without certification. You might be running errands or cleaning, or reading to people, or driving people to appointments and things like that rather than providing patient care that requires certification. As I understand it, you can also choose how many hours you wish to work, which is helpful if you need flexibility. You might query the internet on "in home care" or "in home assistance" for more information. I hope that helps. Good luck.

If you have no certification in anything, then you are not able to be around patients for any reason. The state you are in has the obligation to protect its residents and they do this by certification and licensure. Some volunteer organization will allow you this direct contact on a very limited basis.
