How to efficiently aggregate several collections into one collection?

HELP! EZ Pass in collections what should I do?

• Well here's the story. Brace yourselves cause it's gonna be interesting. Last year during the summer me and my gf lived together. Upon doing so i made it my business to put her car in my name because her license was screwed up. Of course never really thinking of the consequences i thought it be a good thing to do. ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE AHEAD OF ME. We not only got put out of where we were staying (i moved back home, she was homeless for a few months) we had also broken up. In this 7 month period, the car had gotten vandalized by the fault of her then "girlfriend" several tickets were accrued on the car and it had gotten so to where the car also got impounded. Thanks to the help of my parents they just sold it to the pound. I'm not gonna detail anymore just know that it was extremely bad times. Where does EZ Pass come in? Because the car was of course IN MY NAME, the issue became mine as well. The problem started because while i drove the car to and from work it would suddenly keep saying to call service center. And i did several times. It was only a matter of not having sufficient funds. So i put money on the account. Mind you also the EZ Pass account is in HER NAME. Regardless of all the adding funds and such it still said "call service center." So then the break up happened. Of course me feeling somewhat bad for her i kept the car in my name. I regret this and probably one of the BIGGEST mistakes i could have made. During the time none of the tolls were being paid each time we rode through therefore i started receiving the infamous violations in the mail. Because me and her were on such terrible terms i just had this mindset like okay not my problem. But it WAS my problem because the car was in my name!!! Needless to say today the account is in collections with the amount of violations and tolls coming to $2600. I have no idea what to do and i can only pray that the collection agency lets me work out a payment plan. What should i do? What does everyone think of the outcome of this? And please i don't need any bashing. I know what i did was extremely dumb and i'm living with that now. I just need advice on how to fix this problem now that is all

  Do not deal with the collection agency. Deal with the police or whatever agency runs the tolls directly. I do not believe you are liable for tolls run up by someone else. You are liable for parking tickets, accidents, etc., but not tolls I believe. And the court can also throw out the past due violations penalties, etc. But the collection agency has absolutely no incentive to negotiate. You have to go over their heads, and the judge is your best bet. If you parents have a lawyer, than ask him. If not, then call the public defender's office and get advice. There is no debtor's prison, so they can't really do anything to you except void EZ Pass access or go after your driver's license. And if they go after EZ Pass, you can just use the coin lane. If they go after your license, you will have a chance to explain to a judge, and he will understand.
