How Can I Get Smarter?

• I'm pretty sure I am. My dad JUST asked me a question of when the Declaration of Independence was signed and who signed it, and my mind went blank. I felt so stupid at the time that I nearly cried. After he told me, it then sounded familiar to me. But it made me realize that I had forgotten what I learned in elementary school. I'm a college student now, and I have a boyfriend who is extremely intelligent, so I feel like I'm getting left behind. It's not just education, too. It's life in general. I'm terrible with driving directions, and I would even forget how to get to someone's house if I've been there once or twice. I've been to Las Vegas multiple times in my life, and I still don't know my way around it. I constantly try to make myself smarter by playing puzzle games that would make me think critically, but I don't feel that it's good enough. I've had this feeling in me for a very long time. I've always felt that I was stupid because I would get criticized for these things that should be obvious to me. Can anyone give me advice of how to be smarter?

  I also have a boyfriend who I feel is a lot smarter than me. But listen to this, he reads a lot more than me. He brought ten books with him when we went to Jamaica for 2 weeks. You have to read more, not watch that much television, and pay attention to your studies. I am a college student to and will be getting my bachelors in one more semester. School is hard, but studying always helps. I know i was smarter when I stopped watching television so much and started reading, meditating and exercising. Those activities helped me become really good and also associating myself with people that are ambitious and are in college. I stopped hanging out with low lives.
