How to become a permanent resident in America? Opinions?
-
Okay so, I'm currently 16 by the way. My girlfriend, (18, we're bisexual) lives in America. Once I finish highschool, I would like to study to gain a bachelor of psychology, and quite possibly a doctorate. After I study for 6 years (when I finish I'll be 24) I would like to move to America with my girlfriend A.S.A.P, how do I? How can I make sure I will be accepted into the united states? Also, I can chose to study for my doctorate or work with a psychologist and get money. Would having a doctorate OR having more money better my chances? Opinions please?

Answer:
At this point advanced degrees in medical and high tech fields are the most in demand in the US. I'm not sure if psychologists are needed as badly as other medical specialties. Contact the USCIS to find out more. There's no way to "make sure" you'd be accepted. At the current rate of unemployment in the US, even amongst those with degrees, the rules for immigration may well change by the time you get your degree.

Having a PHD might help but not in psycology, maybe chemistry. Given your 16 you will have grown up in a few years and changed your mind. ITs not really possible anyway.
Robert
Not possible without American family.

You can study in the U.S., provided you can prove that you have the $80K for the Bachelor's, $60K for the Master's, and then another $60K for the doctorate to your disposal, plus all living expenses, of course, as you are only allowed to work on campus for up to 20 hours per week. Once you are done with school or run out of money, whatever comes first, you'll have to return home. There is no prospect of employment for a psychologist, not even with a PhD. as we have thousands of those currently looking for work, meaning no well-meaning corporate sponsor could sell to the U.S.Department of Labor that you can do things none of the psychologists looking for work in the U.S. can do. The U.S. government also does not recognize same-sex marriages, so that path wont' work for you either. In short: experience the American way: spend all the money you have, get deep into debt, then return o the U.K. and pay it off until the day you die.
