Will I have to give it all back?

Can I ask the embassy to give the passport back and I will return to them soon?

Hi One month ago I applied for Temporary Resident Visa and working permit in Canadian Embassy here in UK,I am a Kenyan living here in London under tier 5 visa,my visa is expiring in one week from now,while I have already submitted my passport with UK visa inside to the Canadian embassy,and when I read the average time to be processed is 8-10 weeks while since I submitted my app's is now five weeks only,I need to leave this Country when my visa expires,my intention was to connnect and go direct Canada from here not Kenya,But I have one Idea to go back in my country and renew visa and come back here to wait for visa and working,for this time waiting I will be working,My question is it possible to ask the embassy to give me back my passport so that I can go back home to renew my visa and when I will come London I will give them again so that the may contunue to process visa and work permit? or they will cancel the applications?please advice me.
