Can I connect my laptop to my HDTV using HDMI?

HMI not working on laptop. What can I do?

• Hello, I have tried to connect my HP g60-120us laptop to my Emerson LCD HDTV using an HDMI cable. The problem is that when I plug in the cable, the screen on my laptop goes black but I can still hear windows running on my laptop which must mean it's not fully connected. While this is going on my tv shows nothing but the source name which is "HDMI1", meaning it's not detecting anything. I have tried connecting to HDMI2 but I get the same results. I have also tried the different display modes using the windows key + p function (or FN+F4 for my laptop) but nothing, not even when it's on duplicate or projector only. The only other thing I have tried was uninstalling and reinstalling my graphic card driver software as well as updating all my drivers but still nothing. I really don't know what else to do and I really appreciate it if someone could help me out.
