Why do movies look so much better on my computer monitor?
-
I have a 1080p HDTV and I have a I have a 1080p Computer monitor, and movies look so much better on my monitor. Why is that? I plugged my DVD player into my monitor and the picture on the monitor is a lot like a theater screen, and with my surround sound computer speakers my office is the perfect movie room now. I use the HDTV for TV viewing but I always play movies on the computer monitor now. The TV has a good picture but for movies the colors aren't as good as the monitor.

Answer:
1080p screens are 1,920 pixels wide and 1,080 high. Since they have the same number of pixels and your TV is much larger then the pixels are either larger or further apart, this leads to a less clear picture. The colors difference is probably due to they type of screen, LCD-LED vs LCD vs plasma. Also many monitors also have a higher % NTSC color gamut than most TVs which leads to more vibrant colors.

I'm going to go all geeky here but I'll try to make it understandable. Your monitor looks better because all the pixels are mixed together in a small screen so they are all squeezed together, making it move in together. Your HDTV, however, has a bigger screen, therefore it has the same amount of pixels your computer has, but the pixels on the HDTV are stretched out. Hope this helped. :D
Sometimes the computer screen has more pixels depending on what you got for intense graphics. Consider yourself lucky!
the smaller pc monitor will have the same number of pixels or more than the 1080p tv , as the monitor is smaller the pixels are closer together than on the tv making the picture much sharper
because its an HDTV aka High Definition T.V. so of course its going to look a lot better, also the 1080p helps a lot.
