How long does a army waiver take for jail charges?
-
I've done everything needed to join the army, except taking the oath and getting a waiver i need for going to jail. i was charged with 2 simple batteries and 2 regular batteries all at the same time when i was 17. I'm 20 now. I've payed all the fines, did the community service, and finished the anger management classes. This was my first time getting into any trouble like that and I've stayed out of trouble after that. My recruiter says the waiver will take at least 2 to 3 weeks. I've ben waiting for 2 and a half months now. My questions are, How long does a waiver in my similar circumstances take? Why is the waiver taking so long? What should i do to fix this or speed up the process?

Answer:
It varies based on the level of the waiver and the commander doing the approval process. I've seen a waiver request come back the next day before for a DUI conviction but that's in my old battalion. Where you are the commanders could be taking their time with it. Patience is your friend right now. Also, if anybody tells you the Army isn't doing waivers right now one thing they fail to realize is if you are not eligible for a waiver your recruiter would have already told you so. He wouldn't have wasted his time with you if you was disqualified so he must think he could get you in. @ Mrsjvb: Actually, the maximum amount of misdemeanors you can have before being ineligible for a waiver according to AR 601-210, chapter 4-22r is five, not three. This obviously doesn't count possession of marijuana, which by itself could disqualify you based on what the Army's policy on drug charges is at the time the person is attempting to enlist.

It took me 9 months to get a waiver for a felony burglary and criminal mischief both of which had already been wiped clean off my record.

No Service is granting Any Waiver for anything... They are Cutting Manpower... Have never Heard or Seen any Waivers Granted For Criminal Records...

it really can take months.. I know people who waited more than 6 before they got any response( It was denied, BTW) with 4 charges you have little hope of the waiver being granted. max allowed is 3.
