How much do nurses make in Scotland?

Why do nurses make the same as dental hygienists?

  • In California they both make about an average of 65,000 per year (I looked it up on the internet and was getting the same result of around 65,000) I thought nurses would make more. Why is that? And why do hygienists only get a certificate and nurses get a bachelors?

  • Answer:

I think the numbers are inflated. I think you would be hard pressed to find hygienists making 65k. The ones that might come close to that are the ones that work for perodontists and are specialized in doing things like deep cleanings. These procedures are much more expensive than normal cleanings. I would think starting salary for a nurse right out of school would be somewhere between 38k - 42k. Add overtime and holidays, etc and it could bump up to around 50k. 65k is probably a nurse that's been working for 5+ years if not more. Then again you're talking about Crackafornia so who knows.
