• Hello. Could you answer these questions for my friend? 1. What is the best way to audition for sm? 2. What happens next if you do pass the sm global auditions? 3. What is trainee life like? 4. Do female and male trainees train together? Do trainees get individual training apart from group training from the instructors/teachers? 5. How long are the auditions? if you're going to sing, how much time do you get? 6. My friend is full korean, 16 and she definitely stands out. she's cute. she plans to take vocal and dance lessons in the summer. do you think she'll be able to make it? and is 16 too old? she looks younger than she actually is. she's not that tall either she's on the shorter side but she's skinny but not idol skinny.

  1) That depends on where you are. If your in Korea or california, they hold weekly auditions in both of those places. Seoul and San Francisco or something. It might be los angeles, idk. 2) They ask you to come to Seoul to audition in person alone. In the global auditions, your usually with 9 other people auditioning at once in one room. The Seoul audition is alone in a room with judges. 3) In SM, trainee life can be stressful. Your schedule is extremely tight, and you have to go to school and do homework with all of it as well. Their schedule is usually like this: 8am-3pm: School 3:30pm(around then)-8pm(somewhere around then): Training 8pm-(whenever you sleep): Free Time for Homework, training on your own, etc So yeah, it gets a bit rough. But it's only because they want to push you harder to succeed. 4) I heard that female and male trainees don't train together anymore due to one of the members of Super Junior flirting with all the female trainees before he debuted hahaha. I thought that was kinda funny. I'm not sure about individual training, but you'd probably be with several other trainees while training. 5) Well SM is one of the biggest kpop companies, so just waiting on line for your audition can take a while. I went to the last SM global audition, and the line was 3 blocks long. It would've taken like 4 hours just to get in the building, let alone audition. So get there early. When your auditioning, you get between 10-30 seconds to sing (in the global audition). They can cut you off early, they can let you sing slightly longer, and they can ask you to sing a different song. If you're auditioning in a weekly audition in Korea or California, you get more time to sing and its a lot less crowded. You also get a rythm test during the global audition. So basically even if you audition as a singer, you have to dance. 6) She'd definitely be able to make it. They accept people between the ages of 11-18 ish. And it doesnt matter about being skinny, because they put you on a diet as a trainee regardless. Tell her to make sure she stands out. She needs to be original, and charismatic. Those are the 2 most important things to remember. She needs to stand out, and show her charisma. It's EXTREMELY important to do that if you want to become an idol. I hope your friend makes it :)
