Getting hired through a temp agency?

When you get hired using a temp agency, how quickly do you start getting paid?

  • Okay, let's say you get hired at XYZ corp, but you are actually a temp. agency employee because you found the job through them. I understand most temp. agencies pay weekly. This may seem like an obivious answer...but if a temp starts on Monday, do they expect a check on Friday, or do they have to work a week before getting a check the next week (held back a week). I would think it would be the second way, but I've heard both...so I'm wondering if anyone can clarify for me. Thanks!

    Day lab or you usually can be paid the same day .... longer term usually paid Friday. Same week you work

Every temp agency is different. If you get a job through a temp agency you can ask them when you will get your first pay check. Generally you do not get paid before actually working the hours. So if you work Monday to Friday they would not put you in for having worked your shift Friday on Thursday if that is the cutoff day for payroll.
