What are some good jobs that pay well?

What would you do if you were offered 2 jobs- one is good pay, the other is fun and better for future career?

  • Ok, I recently was offered and accepted a job that is good/decent pay. I don't really like what I will be doing, but with the economy the way it is, I took it... and it's the highest salary I've ever been paid. Anyway, this has been a very long process with the company with all the interviews, background checks, etc. I do not start for another 2 weeks. Before they offered the job, I had applied to a job that I'd be more interested in doing... dealing with the fashion industry. I was called for an interview next week... still before the other job starts. Although I haven't been offered that job, what should I do if I do get it? I'm pretty sure it's less than what the other company has offered me. Both jobs would look good on my resume but the fashion job would be better long term and for career advancement and relates to my past experience. If I did have to make the choice, what job should I choose?

  • Answer:

Trust me,even though more money is great, doing something you enjoy and be more beneficial in the long run is the way to go. I've had/have good paying jobs and I hate what I do and the environment I work in and the money doesn't change the fact I'm miserable, stressed and desperate for a new start. Good luck

Excellent! It's always a pleasure to be in that situation. Wait until you start one job, then later the one that you turned down calls you again and makes a better offer because the person they selected didn't work out! Tread carefully my friend. Be gracious and timely and leave the door open to possibly go with them later down the road. As for which one: search your own heart and desires: you will find the answer there.

I need to know what the job is that you got hired for in order to give you my opinion?

First what is your financial situation i.e. live on your own thus rent/utilities, own a car-monthly payments/insurance or with parents which is critical information in determining what job you will take. Secondly you stated the fashion job relates to past experience in addition to career advancement which does this mean you have a degree or pursing a degree in fashion/retail management etc.? Thirdly does either job have a tuition reimbursement program, if you have not completed college, to further your education and not have to worry about student loans? If I had a choice and my financial situation i.e. lived at home no major expenses then I would pursue the field of my future career. In my 25 years as a VP the decision was to pursue financial stability so switched career and got a MBA no student loans paid for by the Bank. Good Luck?
